The Great Foundation Search - Frustrating Estee

We check in with our Beautycouture.ie Great Foundation Search and this week it is Estée Lauder’s Nutritious who is on the block.

I had high hopes for this foundation, not least because Estée were behind my beloved and now late Prescriptives brand. This is Estée’s first liquid mineral makeup and its full of skin loving ingredients like Vitamin C and E, as well as Pomegranate Extract.

It promised to be non-oily, non-acnegenic and safe for sensitive skin. All good and even better when it came out of the pack... I could swear I was feeling Prescriptives All Skins Mineral Makeup in my hands... the texture was almost identical. ‘Halleluiah’ I thought, ‘my search is over.’ But, and oh yes there is a very, very big and annoying but here... it was too flaming dark for my skin. Cue mega diva tantrum... Elton John style.

What was worse was the foundation was prefect, everything I was looking for – great coverage, non-oily, long lasting and mineral. Totally perfect except for the colour!  And I was using the lightest shade! A major flaw in the product and actually with Estée as a whole, they just don’t offer a wide enough range of shades from light to dark to cater for different skins.

Very disappointing and so annoyingly frustrating that it would put me off altogether. It goes in at number five... not quite as hideous as NARS, but so maddening an experience it drops right down.  Check out the leader board below and don’t miss the next part when we test our more of the hottest foundations on the shelves.
