Indian Summer - Get the Look

By: Katherine R, 01 August 2012

Welcome to my first column for Beautycouture.ie! I’m stylist and nail artist Katherine Ramsey and over the next few months I’ll be showing you how to rock your nails to match the latest trends from the catwalk. If you’re interested in my nail art and styling tips, then please drop me a line.

This month I take a look at the Indian Summer trend. While the irish summer has been a bit of a disaster weather-wise, with August now here, we can hope for a balmy Indian summer. Apart from the weather stakes, the tribal theme has been a big influence on fashion with the high street packed with bold, garish tribal and Aztec style prints and graphics. A real way to get noticed, this trend can appear a bit overwhelming and if you’re reluctant to go all out in the clothes stakes, then going for some tribal inspired nail art is a great way to get on the trend wagon.

This gorge pink Aztec style dress serves as inspiration for this nail design featuring differing layers of colour and zig-zags to get the look.

A similar technique, but using the lush gold and blue pallet seen in the likes of Bobbi Brown’s desert twilight collection, makes for a striking look.

More intricate this almost native American style print is reflected in this bold nail design.

Mix it up – Go for an Accent Mani of sorts by giving the ring finger a different colour or stand out design from the rest of your fingers, like in this stunning blue and gold nail design.

Having just the tips decorated also makes for an eye catching effect like this very African tribal feeling nail design, much like Blake Lively's striking frock.

Finally who says things have to match? Clashing prints are huge right now, so why not have a different nail design on each finger and channel Olivia Palermo once again
