Still great - Retro beauty products

We were having a chat in Beautycouture.ie HQ the other day about our first memories of makeup. For most of us it was playing with our mums or grandmothers makeup when we were kids. Of course it opened a whole can of nostalgia about just what are the best retro classic beauty products still out there on the shelves and which ones we still use?
After much debate (and one or two handbags at dawn!) we came up with our top five retro beauty buys that we think should still have a place in your beauty box today!
Who can forget Nivea Cream €2.45? It was loved by mums and grandmothers alike for all over body moisture and back in the day came in a swanky tin. I can remember my nanny using it religiously and my mum even tells a story where her mum used it on them as sunscreen.... of course they burned to a crisp since the cream has absolutely no sun protection in it at all!
The Body Shop Shea Butter €15.95. Not quite as old as the Nivea Cream, but in the more recent retro history this product is a true classic. Fair trade, rich and smells delicious this cream is one of the most popular Body Shop products and they nearly sell out of it every week!
Johnsons’ Baby Wipes €4.63. These are probably one of the first types of ‘beauty product’ you ever used.... even though it was probably on your baby bottie! These nifty wipes are so handy and gentle, I think every woman, no matter what her age or stage in life have a packet of these multi-talented wipes lurking in her beauty box.
Olay... but do you remember when it was Oil of Ulay? Another classic your mum and grandmother is sure to have used at some point, this range of skincare always hits the mark for value and for quality. For mega retro value check out the Classic Care Double Action Day cream.
Vaseline Petroleum Jelly €1.71 (50g) has a million and one uses... probably the best thing for chapped lips and dry elbows you’re ever likely to find. A timeless classic
