- Oprah to be Godmother to Blue Ivy Carter

Oprah Winfrey is set to be the godmother to Beyoncé’s daughter Blue Ivy.

According to reports, the couple chose the media mogul because they've grown close to Oprah over the years.

The couple are also said to have chosen Jay-Z's close friend Tyran 'Ty Ty' Smith as Blue Ivy's godfather.

The reports suggest that Beyoncé and Jay-Z wanted their daughter's godparents to be people who were not already in their immediate family.

Beyonce, 30, and Jay-Z, 42, welcomed their first child in New York on January 7.
