All about Brown Thomas...
Last week saw Brown Thomas Dublin host their bi annual Press Show which showcased some amazing Autumn/Winter fashion.
Were we there? Yes we had a bird’s eye view from the front row of all the International Collections.
Here’s my take on the show.
The show opened with Peter Pilotto whose artistic digital print dresses have become red carpet favourites around the globe. From reading my column you probably know I was lucky enough to meet Peter Pilotto and his design partner Christopher when they visited Brown Thomas so I always get excited when I see their dresses.

Next up was Dries Van Noten who was all about the masculine tailoring. Then along came Alexander Mc Queen who's leather trousers caught my eye straight away, good news for those who invested in leather trousers over the previous seasons they are still bang on trend as are Peplums which I love as they are so figure flattering.
Alexander McQueen

Dolce and Gabbana who have now merged their two labels into one- no more D&G diffusion line -showed what they do best; Leopard Print!! Always sexy. Always standout and always signature Dolce and Gabbana!! This time the design duo put a different spin on their iconic black and brown or black and white prints by using red leopard prints. The floor length leopard gown really made an impact.

Mary Katrantzou who I was also lucky enough to meet showed her jewellery print dresses in more form fitting shapes than her previous collections. Dior was romantic as Dior always is in my opinion. Roksanda Illinics collection was full of neon red which I just love-what better way to light up a room. Pucci's collection also featured a number of Peplums dresses it was all about shape whereas Lanvin was all about Colour.

Diane Von Furstenberg’s collection really caught my eye! The eclectic mix of leather, prints, studs and sequins were quite simply divine. This DVF collection also featured a lot of lime green which is more commonly associated with Spring/Summer but it was really effective at injecting some colour. McQ was full of lush brocade which never dates and looks great every year. Helmut Lang has mostly designed in leather this season- think Rick Owns style draped leather and All Saints esq jackets. Leather is where is at ladies!!
The Acne collection featured a lot of faux fur. This looks great when mixed with leather and it is both functional and fashionable. Alice and Olivia channelled Chanel with leather and sequins (it wouldn't be Autumn/Winter without a bit of sparkle!) Balenciaga showed some lovely knits mixed with prints- a great way to do functional daywear.

Celine showed a lot of beige which they are synonymous with; alongside some really cool jumpsuits which are still very much in fashion and masculine tailoring. Stella McCartney sent some gorgeous capes down the runway alongside coats and skirt suits- you heard it here first the skirt suit is back!! Victoria Beckham stuck to her roots which body con dresses which had a slight military influence.

The show closed with Tom Ford who really sexed things up with exposed zips and cut out details. We were also lucky enough to see in the flesh the stunning cape dress that Gwyneth Paltrow wore to this year’s Oscars, you could hear the gasps of awe when Irelands Fashion Pack clapped eyes on this.

A few weeks prior to the Press Show Brown Thomas hosted the Triumph Inspiration Awards which celebrated the best in student design talent this country has to offer. The creations that were being paraded down the catwalk were so artistic it really testified to the amount of talent in this country and how important it is to nurture and encourage it... I have never seen such amazing underwear in all my life
I was also met Bruno Tonioli from Strictly Come Dancing who was one of the judges and he was an absolute pet
Well that’s all the fashion for now folks, until next time stay fashionable xx
