Mes Petit Chapeaux - Hollywood Chic

As part of our up and coming series championing emerging Irish Talent, we find out all about the stunning Mes Petit Chapeaux collection from Lorraine Domican.
‘Tis the season for beautifying our noggins, making them stand out with an array of feathers, bling and lace for all our various weddings, ladies days and summer parties’ galore! So when we heard about Lorraine’s amazingly gorgeous ‘little hats’ we were immediately hooked! And the amazing photos were taken by another of our Up and Coming alumni - Maria McGrail! Yes it's all a rich, super fashionista tapestry!
Super cute and with a touch of 1920s glamour about them, the headwear by Mes Petits Chapeaux is total Hollywood chic. Lorraine takes inspiration from starlets such as Marlene Dietrich and Josephine Baker, making these little numbers fabulously elegant.
“I love all things French, the language, style, the Eiffel Tower, Paris and the romantic connotations,” says Loraine, a Fashion Design graduate of the Limerick School of Art and Design (LSAD).
Each piece is carefully handmade using the finest materials and finished to the highest standard. Delicate feathers and quality materials are sourced from all over the world and Loraine will customize these, or dye them, to match any colour outfit, guaranteeing a perfect match.
“My Bridal Collection has a vintage feel and is ideal for any bride-to-be looking for something that little bit different for her special day,” Loraine says. “I use a range of materials from antique lace, vintage pearls and beads, handmade chiffon flowers and Swarovski rhinestones to create something beautiful and unique for that special finishing touch.”
After graduating from LSAD, Loraine spent two years as a Junior Design Assistant in the Fashion House of Michael H in Dublin where she gained an invaluable insight into how to design for and style women of all ages and sizes. This experience and knowledge provided the foundation for her future roles as a Style Advisor and Retail Manager, before she qualified as a Style Coach in June 2008.
Lorraine’s talents don’t stop there, however. She also has a range of super striking accessories to embellish from head to toe; think satin chokers, wrist corsages, Swarovski crystal necklaces and earrings... nice!
Established only last year, Mes Petits Chapeaux is already turning fashionista heads, most recently at Xposé live in Dublin and at High Heels and Handbags in Adare, both held in April.
Mes Petits Chapeaux by Loraine Domican is stocked in Foxrock Fillies Hat hire Boutique, Blackrock, Dublin; Frill Boutique, Kilcullen, Kildare. Her showroom is in Newbridge, Co. Kildare, where Loraine is available to meet clients by appointment.
Loraine can cater to any budget. General prices range from €60-250 for head pieces, €55-170 for bridal combs and hair bands, €30-90 for accessories. Prices vary depending on size and detail.
